February MMM Compassion Celebration

At AC Whelan, our Monthly Morning Meeting (MMM) Team brings our school community together each month to highlight a core value such as Friendship, Respect, Kindness, Growth Mindset, and Compassion. Each month begins with a Zoom lesson shared with all classrooms to introduce the value and what it looks and sounds like in action. Throughout the month, staff members observe students who consistently model the look-fors and nominate them to be honored at our celebration.

Today, we proudly celebrated 29 outstanding students from Kindergarten through Grade 5 who were nominated by staff for demonstrating Compassion throughout our school community. These students showed care for others, offered help without being asked, included classmates, used thoughtful words, and demonstrated understanding when someone needed support.

To honor their efforts, students participated in our Compassion Cootie Catcher Celebration, where they created and decorated special cootie catchers filled with uplifting and compassionate messages. This meaningful activity reinforced the power of kind words, empathy, and small actions that make a big difference.

Our Compassion Celebration highlighted what makes AC Whelan so special: students who notice when others need support, choose kindness, and lead with heart.
